Circles is the final posthumous record of rapper Mac Miller.
The sound of the album is a surprisingly upbeat chronicle of the artist's continuous efforts of self-improvement and optimism around overcoming a crippling drug addiction.
Design role: Concept development, Art Direction
The concept was to showcase pills (representing the addiction), shot at a slightly obscure angle so that unless you look carefully you may not identify them immediately as pills, this was to represent the mask of a functioning drug addict.
The unravelling sequence in which the pills are arranged symbolises a number of things. It represents the undoing of the artists life as he tries to break the cycle of addiction, in addition, creating the symbol of an incomplete circle, as Mac Miller never completed 'Circles' due to his untimely death.
